Gas Sphere
Project: Gas Sphere, Valley Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant
Size: 10,500 Sq. Ft.
Scope: This 65 ft. outdoor gas storage sphere had to be completely contained so that painters could remove existing lead based paint and re-coat the structure. The whole project was under time pressure because it was outdoors, exposed to sun, wind, rain and hot or cold temperatures. It took approximately five weeks for the subcontractor to erect scaffolding and contain the structure, 3 weeks to blast and repaint it, and two weeks to take down the scaffolding.
Special factors: Removing the lead paint on the structure required that it be completely contained. Scaffolding was built around the gas sphere and containment installed over scaffolding.
