Ductile Iron Pipe
Vulcan Pipe is a Protecto 401™ Ceramic Epoxy applicator. Protecto 401™ is applied according to specifications in the "Protecto 401 Ceramic Epoxy Standard for Lining Ductile Iron Pipe and Fittings for Sewer Service. Information about the Protecto 401™ specification, testing and results can be found on the manufacturer's web site.
Protecto 401™ lined ductile iron pipe and fittings provide the maximum protection available in sewer pipe applications. Protecto 401™ has been successfully used in hundreds of sanitary sewer applications and has proven, through both laboratory testing and years of actual sewer service, to prevail against corrosion on all sizes of ductile iron pipe and fittings.
Protecto 401™ Ceramic Epoxy Lining was designed for and is used as protection for ductile iron sanitary sewer pipe, and it provides the reliability of cement mortar lining with the excellent corrosion protection of novalac epoxy. This concentration of protection has resulted in performance unparalleled by other linings.
Protecto 401™ is applied to the interior of ductile iron pipe and fittings using specialized application equipment and stringent specifications. The lining is designed to be applied at a 40 mils thickness (per SSPC-PA2). We perform a non-destructive pinhole detection test and a thickness test to ensure application of a sound, chemically resistant protective lining.
